81% of Copywriters are LYING to their clients about AI! 🤯

According to the latest findings from The ProCopywriters 2024 Survey, 81% of copywriters are NOT making their clients aware of the fact that they use AI in their work...

Let alone how they use it or how they're protecting their client's data and privacy in the process... 👀

This statistic terrifies me in 2 very specific ways:

1. It tells me that a majority of copywriters feel like using AI in any way is cheating (it's not).

2. It tells me that a majority of copywriters are using their client's information in a way they might not like, approve of, or (importantly) consent to.

I am firmly in the pro-AI camp, but that belief is underpinned by a few other very important ones:

👉🏻 My clients can trust me to protect their privacy, data, and proprietary information.

👉🏻 AI is not a creative force. It is an excellent analytical tool, and should be used accordingly. I'm the human, it's the machine.

👉🏻 I will always be transparent about that fact that I use AI, and how I use it.

I use it, in some capacity for a lot of things:

Research; data analysis; automation; transcribing; summarising; brainstorming; sound-boarding; structuring my thoughts; proof-reading; spellchecking; sentiment analysis; buyer psychology analysis; reminders; executive functioning support; diary organisation; planning.

I do NOT use it as a replacement for my beautiful, wild, creative, empathetic, anxious, ADHD, highly sensitive, curious, intuitive, HUMAN brain. 🧠

I do NOT use it wholesale to create content or copy, or even to repurpose content or copy. Not because I think that's cheating, but because I think it's worse than what I can write.

Is that big headed? Maybe. But I happen to believe it's true.

I don't abdicate responsibility or creativity to ChatGPT, because I don't think that serves me or my clients.

Or humanity, if we're getting philosophical about it...

I don't want my creative muscles to atrophy.

I don't want to do the dishes whilst Claude writes poetry.

Use AI as a tool, absolutely. I do, and will continue to do so.

But for god's sake, be honest about it.

And don't let those beautiful brains gather dust... ❤️

Love,
Chantelle x

P.S. If you want to learn how to write copy that actually sounds like you, doesn't abdicate responsibility to machines - but you're also interested in understanding how you can use AI in ways that make sense, support your creativity and don't turn your brain to mush...
